Quebec is known for its excellent cuisine so we’ll start the first 2013 partner tour by having lunch in Old Montreal. We’ve made a reservation at Verses Restaurant in the Hôtel Nelligan, where you’ll enjoy the original brickwork, authentic décor, and impressive glass wine cellar. Ingredients are always locally sourced and the menu consistently boasts the freshest produce.

After lunch it’s just a short walk to the Quay Jacques-Cartier in the Old Port of Montreal where you will enjoy the sights of Montreal and its islands from the Chic Terrace, the open deck Salon Prestige or the air conditioned Salle Panoramique on one of the Bateau-Mouche tour boats.

  • Old Montreal – enjoy a journey through time as you visit Old Montreal, nestled between the St. Lawrence Seaway and the downtown skyscrapers. Founded in 1642, this old town is a main attraction for visitors and locals alike, with its many boutiques and restaurants.
  • Olympic Stadium – created for the Summer Olympic Games in 1976, it is truly an architectural masterpiece. Its tower is the tallest inclined in the world, at 175m (574ft).
  • Mount Royal Park Lookout – this enchanting park offers an impressive view of the city below. It has hosted many outdoor activities for over 100 years.
  • St. Joseph’s Oratory – the oratory boasts an Italian Renaissance style basilica–the largest in Canada–and is dedicated to the country’s patron saint. Its founder performed many miracles here in the early 1900’s and still today, millions of visitors come to visit.

The Archeology and History of Montreal and Lunch at L’Arrivage

The Pointe-à-Callière Archeology and History Museum is a recognized national historical and archaeological site that leads visitors through centuries of history, from the times when Natives camped here to the present day. The Museum opened in 1992 and showcases major archeological discoveries made on this site starting in the 1980’s. Set on a site bearing evidence of over 1,000 years of human activity and on the very birthplace of Montréal, Pointe-à-Callière houses and protects remarkable archaeological remains, displayed in situ with absolute respect for their integrity. We have arranged for a guided 90-minute tour with free time after the tour for your own exploration.

After the museum visit, excellent dining awaits you at L’Arrivage. This glass-walled restaurant located on the top floor of the museum building upstairs, is bathed in natural light and offers an exceptional view of the Old Port.
